just maddeningly unhelpful
"Pirates of the Caribbean - At World's End”  (and why do I feel a duty to watch the third one just becuase I saw the first two?)
002Sparrow.jpg

The key of the big hit (at least) in Japan has been no doubt the pirate Jack Sparrow. He first appeared in the movie standing proudly on a mast, but as the camera zooms out, you see that actually whole ship had already sank and mast is the only thing left that he could hang onto. Then Sparrow, who seems not a slightly disturbed, hops onto the deck, leaving the mast to dissapear into the sea. What an impressive way to appear... But Jack Sparrow could have been a much plainer character if it were not for Depp who acted it.
It's not easy to explain why Sparrow is so attactive. He is not particularly good-natured (maybe good-looking), nor particularly smart (maybe tricky), nor particularly brave (maybe reckless) – usually a character with such adjective is not so popular.

where there's a will
It seems like youtube has suddenly triggered a huge wave of “copyright-free world”. Recently I found a website that is linked to various youtube-like sites where you can see all kinds of Japanese animation, soap operas & movies of both old and new (and the good part is that those sites allow uploading the film without cutting them into small parts). My recent hit on the list was “Trigun” (broadcasted nearly 10 years ago), a SF-western mixed story laid in a wasteland planet. It features a gentle, affectionate maudlin who actually is a legendary gunman, Vash the Stampede, the most wanted man on planet rumored to have destroyed one of the big seven cities alone in the past.

This is the cut I specially like in the opening animation.
